Breakthroughs in Wellness and Recovery Newsletter
This edition separates client experience from established evidence, explains how pressurized room-air sessions differ from medical hyperbaric oxygen therapy, explores the growing L. reuteri conversation, and offers a quick reminder of the wellness services available at Hyperbaric Plus.
Hyperbaric Air Therapy: What It Is and What It Is Not
Hyperbaric Air Therapy at Hyperbaric Plus uses increased atmospheric pressure while clients breathe room air. Medical hyperbaric oxygen therapy uses a pressurized chamber while the patient breathes high-concentration oxygen under medical supervision.
Pressure affects how gases behave in the body, but a room-air session is not equivalent to medical HBOT. Medical HBOT is an FDA-regulated treatment involving 100% oxygen or another prescribed oxygen-delivery setup in a cleared hyperbaric device. Hyperbaric Plus presents its room-air sessions as general-wellness experiences rather than treatment for a diagnosed medical condition.
What Clients Are Really Saying
Journals, wellness logs, and direct conversations can reveal useful patterns, even though personal reports do not establish that HBAT caused a particular outcome.

How to Track Your Own Experience More Responsibly
- Choose two or three specific measures instead of tracking everything.
- Use the same rating scale before and after sessions.
- Record sleep, hydration, exercise, medication changes, and major stressors.
- Look for trends across several weeks rather than relying on one session.
- Share concerning or worsening symptoms with a qualified healthcare professional.
Dr. Davis' L. Reuteri Cultured Dairy
Many people in the Hyperbaric Plus community are experimenting with homemade cultured dairy using specific L. reuteri strains and longer fermentation times.
Limosilactobacillus reuteri is a probiotic species studied in several strain-specific settings. Research has explored digestive health, bowel function, oral health, immune signaling, and interactions with the gut microbiome. A result found with one strain, dose, or population should not be generalized to every homemade yogurt recipe.

What the Research Can and Cannot Tell Us
- Some human studies suggest strain-specific gastrointestinal benefits.
- Some proposed immune and barrier effects come from laboratory or animal research.
- Oxytocin-related claims are not established benefits of every homemade preparation.
- Fermentation time does not prove a finished batch contains a specific dose.
- Commercial probiotic trials are not automatically equivalent to homemade cultured dairy.
Food-Safety Basics
- Use clean equipment, containers, utensils, and hands.
- Follow the exact starter, temperature, and timing instructions.
- Use a reliable thermometer or controlled fermenting device.
- Refrigerate the finished product promptly.
- Discard batches with mold, unusual discoloration, unpleasant odor, or unexpected texture.
- Ask a qualified professional before using probiotics when immunocompromised or medically fragile.
